PhD Workshop on researching arts and culture in the global postwar era: Europe in a global perspective

Hosted at Louisiana,  November 1st 2017

Recent years have heralded a paradigm shift in the way we think about modernity and aesthetic modernism as expressed in notions of multiple modernities, often with a particular focus on the postwar era as a horizon for the contemporary condition of today in arts and culture.

To discuss this reassessment of the global postwar era, which will also be the theme of the big Louisiana Research Conference “Multiple Modernisms: a symposium on globalism in postwar art”, November 2nd and 3rd, a workshop will be held to exchange perspectives on how to approach a more global history of art.

The workshop will be conducted by Romy Golan, 20th Century European Art Professor, The Graduate Center, New York University, and Nikolas Drosos, Ph.D. and postdoc of Columbia University, and provide case studies of international research as well as feedback and discussions of the current projects of the participants.

Detailed information about the PhD workshop 1. November will soon be announced.
