The Future of the World: Futurology, Futurists, and the Struggle for the Post Cold War Imagination

Cemes is proud to announce that Jenny Andersson will give a lecture on her new book The Future of the World : Futurology, Futurists, and the Struggle for the Post Cold War Imagination (Oxford University Press, 2018). 

The lecture will be followed by comments by associate professor Bo Fritzbøger (University of Copenhagen) and postdoc David Heidenblad Larson (Lund University) and a Q&A session.

After the lecture, there will be a reception with drinks and snacks.

Jenny Andersson explains how futurist scholars and researchers imagined the Cold War and post Cold War world and the tools and methods they would use to influence and change that world.

Jenny Andersson is an economic historian and CNRS Research Professor at the Center for European Studies (CEE), Paris. She is the author of two groundbreaking books on Swedish Social Democracy; Between Growth and Security: Swedish Social Democracy from a Strong Society to a Third Way (Manchester University Press, 2006) and The Library and the Workshop: Social Democracy and Capitalism in an Age of Knowledge (Stanford University Press, 2009). Since 2012, she has been a ERC Principal Investigator of FUTUREPOL, a Sciences Po project on the political history of the future, knowledge production and future governance in the post-war period.
