New CEMES Research Groups Set Up
At its meeting on 11 September 2023, the CEMES Steering Committee reviewed the application submitted by researchers across the three CEMES partner institutions, University of Copenhagen, Lund University and Malmö University. We received a great number of applications, and after difficult deliberations decided to fund 8 CEMES Research Groups.
These were:
- Screening Europe: The State of Polycrisis in the European Audiovisual Industry

Director: Michael Strange, MaU - European Memory Cultures
Directors: Barbara Törnquist-Plewa (LU) and Tea Sindbæk Andersen (UCPH) - Libraries, archives, and museums as key pillars of modern European democratic societies?
Directors: Hans Dam Christensen (UCPH), Nanna Kann-Rasmussen (UCPH) - Global Europe & International Cooperation (GEIC)
Directors: Haakon A. Ikonomou (UCPH), Tobias Denksus (MaU) - Öresund Comparative Borderlands Research Group
Director: Johanna Rivano Eckerdal (LU) - Thinking the European Republic of Letters: Intellectual History and Philology
Directors: Sabrina Ebbersmeyer (UCPH), Irina Hron (UCPH), Christian Høgel (LU) - European Cultures of Laughter
