Memory Dialogues

We invite PhD students and postdocs specialising in memory studies to join this two-day workshop at University of Copenhagen. The workshop offers participants the chance to discuss their work in progress with experienced researchers as well as fellow junior scholars. The discussions will be further complemented by a short series of lectures.

The workshop is open to PhD students and postdocs across all fields of memory studies: history, literature, anthropology, ethnology, urban studies, education, museology etc. The core of the workshop consists of in-depth feedback sessions, where participants will have the opportunity to discuss their work in progress: Before the workshop, each participant is required to submit a paper (draft article, prospective dissertation chapter etc.) which they would like to discuss with the group. Each paper will then be assigned to a senior researcher and a fellow junior participant, both of whom will act as discussant and provide thorough feedback before opening the floor to all participants.

Confirmed senior researchers

  • Ann Rigney (University of Utrecht)
  • Hanna Teichler (University of Frankfurt)
  • Anne Folke Henningsen (University of Copenhagen)
  • Eleonora Narvselius (Lund University)

In addition to providing feedback, these researchers will give a short series of lectures on current issues in memory studies, based on their own work.

With this, we wish to provide a highly specialised forum for discussing work in progress, engaging with state-of-the-art research, and establishing new, transdisciplinary networks.

Deadline for submission of papers: 29 November 2024
(More details to follow).
