Europe in Turmoil

With the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, the breakdown of the historical transatlantic partnership with the United States, not to speak of the difficulty finding a new position towards the global south and China, Europe and the European Union is at a uniquely tumultuously moment in history. How does Europe address the new dangerous security situation with a less stable American ally? How can it organise its trade in a global trade system on the verge of collapse? How may international cooperation and the multilateral system be saved and equipped to address global challenges including climate change in a world where major superpowers have turned their back on the United Nations and international law?

CEMES student brings together leading Danish experts on these questions for a summer debate at the Faculty of Humanities, and all are welcome to join. Are you a student (MA or BA) at University of Copenhagen, Lund University or Malmö University? Then you are specially invited to CEMES Student’s Spring Seminar: Europe in Turmoil. The seminar brings current and future members of CEMES Student together with cutting-edge researchers within European studies. The debate is followed by CEMES Student meeting, where you are invited to join CEMES Student and help plan and organise future public events on Europe.
