Author Meets Critics
The term "eurocracy" is well known in all EU member states, but besides bringing negative connotations to the EU and Brussels there is surprisingly little knowledge about the precise meaning of this term.
Who are this social group of eurocrats? From a sociological perspective what do we know about the European parliamentarians, commissioners, officials, permanent representations, lobbyists, central bank people, union people, diplomats and others constituting the engine room of the eurocracy?
On the basis of his newly released anthology Le champ de l'Eurocratie: Une sociologie politique du personnel de l'UE (English version on Palgrave in 2013) Didier Georgakakis will present the results of probably the first systematic investigation of the personnel of the eurocracy.
Uffe Østergard, Professor, CBS and Caroline Grøn, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science will comment and discuss after the presentation.
We look forward to seeing you there.
All are welcome.
