Although far-right actors are generally regarded as deniers of anthropogenic climate change, recent years have seen notable discursive shifts: while the impending ecological crisis is increasingly acknowledged, it is simultaneously being ideologically reinterpreted.

In this context, intellectual proponents of the New Right play a particularly important role. The talk aims to trace the diversity of the intellectual-historical traditions of “far-right ecologism” (Lubarda 2020) in Europe, using Germany, France, and Hungary as illustrative cases.

Discussant: Tenure Track Assistant Professor Fábio Santos, University of Copenhagen.
