CV Daunis Auers

Daunis Auers (PhD, London) is Associate Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Latvia and a Jean Monnet Professor (2013-2016) of European integration. He is also the Research Director of Certus think-tank, which was founded in 2015 and focuses on analysis of Latvia’s competitiveness. Dr Auers was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California-Berkeley (2005-2006) and a Baltic-American Freedom Foundation Scholar at Wayne State University in Detroit (2014).

He has published widely on Latvian, Baltic and European politics. His most recent book – The Comparative Government and Politics of the Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the 21st Century – was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2015. He has also published research on political parties and party systems – particularly the recent emergence of radical right populism (often co-authored with Andres Kasekamp) – as well as studies of referendums and initiatives, presidents and executives, regional integration as well as the Europeanisation of the Baltic states.
