Memory and nationalism
A research seminar with researchers associated with the CSGN or with the CEMES research group
It is widely assumed that one of the aspects characterizing a nation is the idea of a shared past. National memory and the connections between nationalism and remembering are crucial parts of memory studies. While in recent decades memory scholars have called for more research into cosmopolitan, transcultural or transnational mnemonic formations, these calls also recognize the continuing relevance of the nation as a main condition for public remembering and memory politics.
Memory and nationalism will be the topic of a one-day research seminar, co-organized by the Center for the Study of Global Nationalisms and the CEMES research group European Memory Cultures. The seminar will take the form of an informal sharing of on-going research related to memory and nationalism at the Universities of Lund, Malmö and Copenhagen.
Best regards
The coordinators of the CEMES group European Memory Cultures: Tea Sindbæk Andersen, Barbara Törnquist-Plewa, Anna Sandberg & Coordinator of CSGN: Georg Wink
